Confidence: What is it & Why You Should Have It?

What Confidence Really Means
Confidence is a word that gets thrown around a lot, but let’s break it down. For me, confidence isn’t about being the loudest in the room or having all the answers. It’s more about that quiet inner belief that whispers, “I got this.” It’s knowing that even when you don’t have everything figured out, you trust yourself to learn, grow, and handle whatever comes your way.
But here’s the thing—confidence doesn’t just appear out of nowhere. It’s not something you can pick up at a store. Confidence comes from doing. You don’t magically feel confident before you take the first step; you build it by taking that step. Think about it—whether you’re practicing a sport, mastering a hobby, or even writing a blog post, the more you do it, the better you get, and the more confident you feel.
Confidence Grows in Action
If you’re not moving forward, you’re letting self-doubt, fear, or limiting beliefs keep you stuck. It’s like being trapped in a loop of “what ifs” that paralyzes you before you even begin. How can you expect to grow if you’re standing in the same place? The only way to break that cycle is to start. Take messy, imperfect action. That’s where confidence is born—not in the thinking, but in the doing.
Writing This Blog Is Confidence in Action
You see, even writing this blog post is part of that process for me. By putting myself out there, I’m growing. Sure, I could worry about how it’ll be received—maybe I even do, a little. But confidence isn’t about waiting until you feel ready. It’s about showing up, taking action, and trusting that confidence will follow. Every word I write, every post I share is strengthening my confidence muscle, bit by bit.
The Power of Confidence
Here’s the secret: Confidence is power. Not in a way that dominates others, but in a way that frees you. When you’re confident, you release yourself from the constant worry of what other people think. You stop comparing your journey to someone else’s and start focusing on your own path.
And yes, some people will ask, “But what about being too confident?” Sure, there’s a line where confidence can turn into arrogance, but if you’re coming from a place where you’ve spent years doubting yourself, you’re probably nowhere near that line. Most of us could use a little more confidence, not less.
Start Before You Feel Ready
If you’re waiting for confidence to magically appear one day, you’ll be waiting forever. The magic happens after you start. So take the leap. Show up for yourself. Trust that every small step is building the confidence you need to move forward.
And hey, if I can start by writing this blog, you can do whatever’s been sitting on your heart too. 😉
