Part 2: Turning My Phone Into a Business
The idea of building a business felt overwhelming, but then I realized—I already had everything I needed to start.
One night, after scrolling mindlessly through Instagram (as we all do), I stopped on a post from a woman who seemed to be living the life I wanted. She was working from home, building an income on her terms, and making time for her family. Her caption said, “If I can do this, so can you.”
That line stuck with me. What if I could do this too?
The first thing I realized was that social media wasn’t just for selfies and vacation photos. It was a tool—a powerful one. So instead of wasting time scrolling, I started learning. I took a deep dive into how people were building online businesses:
- Women turning their passions into profits through affiliate marketing.
- Moms creating income streams by sharing products they already love.
- Everyday people like me start with nothing but their phone.

I’ll be honest, I was scared. What if I failed? What if no one listened to me? But then I thought about my why. I didn’t want to spend the next 30 years sitting in meetings that didn’t light me up. I wanted freedom—for myself, for my family, for my life.
I started small. I picked one platform and committed to showing up every day. My first post was messy, and my first pitch was awkward, but I did it. And little by little, I started to see the results.
If you’re holding back because you feel like you don’t know enough or you’re afraid to fail, trust me—you’re not alone. The key is starting, even when it’s messy.
