Embracing Growth: Surrounding Yourself with Positive, Purposeful People
Nov 12, 2024
Are you at a stage where you crave genuine positivity and people who share your vision for a brighter future? Time is precious, and our goals are too big to waste on people or things that don’t align with our purpose. Curating a circle of people who embody positivity, ambition, and empowerment can be one of the best moves for personal growth. Being selective about your circle—even if it means distancing from family members—can make all the difference in reaching your potential.
It’s often said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” If those five people are driven, positive, and growth-oriented, they inspire the same in you. Ask yourself: are the people around you encouraging your growth, or holding you back?
Here’s what to look for in the people you keep close:

First, choose people with a Growth Mindset—those who see challenges as chances to improve.
Second, seek a Money Mindset—not just about making money, but understanding how it can fuel freedom and positive change.
Third, find people who believe in Empowerment and who genuinely care and celebrate others’ success.
Fourth, look for Community Builders who value connection and mutual support. If someone’s energy doesn’t align with these values, it’s okay to step back. This isn’t selfish; it’s essential for your peace and progress.
It can be difficult to set boundaries with family members, but letting negativity in just because someone is “family” can be draining. Loving family from a distance can protect your mental space without shutting people out entirely. I’m learning that growth requires hard choices, and setting these boundaries is about preserving your energy for what truly matters.
Staying in familiar circles may feel safe, but it can also limit opportunities. I often talk about getting into different rooms and seeking connections that challenge you, expand your mind, and push you toward goals you once thought were dreams. Embracing discomfort and getting comfortable with being uncomfortable can be one of the most powerful decisions you ever make.
Ask yourself, if you’re ready to step into a new circle and embrace the endless possibilities that come with it. Sit and ponder that question.
